Learning from the European Green Pact with "Wageningen University and Research"

Wageningen, June 25, 2024

Faced with the agreements of climate change and environmental degradation, the European Union created the Green Pact with the aim of transforming its economy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and decoupling its economic growth from the use of natural resources. This Green Pact will have immediate effects for Latin American countries, especially for the agricultural sector.

From June 17-21, students of the Executive Master's in Agribusiness, a dual program offered by INCAE Business School and Zamorano, were at Wageningen University and Research (WUR) to learn about this Green Pact, its consequences and how to redesign business strategies to create production and processing systems that comply with the new regulations.

During the week, a theoretical approach was combined through sessions on systems thinking for agriculture and consumer attitudes towards sustainable products, with field visits to explore how to create short, inclusive chains and new production systems based on ecological principles of complexity.
